Ana Luísa Braga Cunha

In January 2022 started collaboration with visual artist Ana Luísa Braga Cunha within artistic residency at Paper Mill (Moinho do Papel) Museum in order to create the exhibition/installation Interlude. Between Transparences with opening in March 2022.

In a logic of artistic residency and creation through in loco research, we proposed a multidisciplinary project that explored the universe of water and flora outside the Paper Mill through the language of the body in movement and exploration of drawing/photography on different supports, paper, fabrics and video.

In March 26th 2023 inaugurated the exhibition Ophelia. Prelúdio das Águas by Ana Luísa Braga Cunha, where our performance led visitors to discover the poetics of this site specific project about water and women in literature and the arts.

The cisterns may refer to symbols of darkness or loneliness, which can be associated with Ophelia’s tragic fate in “Hamlet“.

From the poetics of water, the feminine, time, the cave, the scenographic interior space of the Cisterns that is established between the female body and the natural elements, the Ophelia. Prelúdio das Águas project brings together literary texts from different origins, especially Virginia Woolf and T.S. Eliot. From graphic and watercolour recordings that emerged during the residency, an artistic installation to bring the surface the imaginary of the place, seeking to transport the visitor to the individual imaginary of each one.
